Wool Pole Protector (BULK x40)
Tired of seeing plastic waste around our hill country sheep and beef farm from planting poles, we decided there must be another solution. That solution, was right in front of us, wool.
Applying what we already knew about wool, we have developed the Wool Pole Protector.
Wool is durable, it can be bent over 20,000 times before breaking.
Wool can store and release moisture as needed.
Wool is a sustainable and renewable resource.
Wool is 100% biodegradable.
Wool Pole Protectors are 1.6m high and manufactured using high micron fleece wool to ensure they are as tough as possible. Every Wool Pole Protector is proudly made and manufactured in NZ.
Believe in wool? Believe in this. Give them a go this year and let the results speak for themselves.

Tired of seeing plastic waste around our hill country sheep and beef farm from planting poles, we decided there must be another solution. That solution, was right in front of us.
Since 2022 we have been trialing Wool Pole Protectors. During this time we’ve experienced record levels of rainfall coupled with severe weather events, all of which our Wool Pole Protectors have withstood without issue.
Subsequently in 2023 we undertook a self-funded trial on 15 hill country farms throughout New Zealand testing several wool types. The trial sites are located in Northland, King Country, Taupo, Gisborne, Hawke’s Bay, Manawatu, Wellington, Canterbury and Te Anau.
Since then we have listened to feedback, implemented a few tweaks and now have a Wool Pole Protector ready for your farm.

For best results we recommend adhering to the installation instructions and planting in accordance with best practice. This includes ensuring you have the right pole, for the right place and using either an A or B grade pole. Correct stock management is also essential, cattle should be excluded from pole plantings for at least the first 18months.

Please ensure you read instructions carefully and follow them correctly.
We recommend the use of an applicator to avoid any chance of snagging during initial application.
-
Please note: Our Wool Pole Protectors are now thicker than what was originally trialed, extending the longevity .
Wool Pole Protectors are currently still in the first two years of trials. What we have observed so far is that around the 18-20month mark degradation is starting to occur along sections of the Wool Pole Protector. Degradation will occur faster along the bottom with any part that has direct contact with the soil.
It is important to note that how long your Wool Pole Protector lasts comes down to your stock managent & climatic conditions. For example: Degradation rates occur faster in hotter and wetter climates compared to dry and cold.
