For the love of wool
Hayden, a second generation farmer and Anastasia, have been sheep & beef farming in Central Hawke’s Bay since 2019. Sharing a love of the outdoors, and the farming lifestyle it led us to trade in our previous careers in the military to give farming a crack. We have been fortunate enough to be able to lease the farm from Hayden’s parents and in 2020 we purchased the stock to run on steep hill country.
Over the years we have always brainstormed and thought about what more could be done with not just the land, but also the wool. After numerous conversations over a beverage or two, at the end of 2021 we decided to take a shot and get our strong ewe wool turned into felt. We knew roughly what we wanted to achieve, but nothing set in stone.
Fast forward from 2022, we welcomed not just our first child into the world, but also Floating Peaks.
What started as an idea, turned into a local market offering with a boot full of products, no branding, no marketing and honestly no real idea what we were about to get ourselves into. We have learnt so much over the last few years but the number one thing we have learnt is we wouldn’t be anywhere without the support from people like you.
So cheers to you, for visiting our website, seeing us at a market, referring us to a friend, making a purchase or getting in touch to spin a yarn. Without you, we really wouldn’t be here today.
Cheers, Hayden & Anastasia (A couple of average Joe farmers juggling farming, small business and two under two)
Proudly farming in Central Hawkes Bay
Our Crossbred ewe wool is shorn on the farm, before heading to Napier to be washed. It then makes the journey to Auckland to be felted before making its way back to us in Central Hawkes Bay.
